Never Coming Back
~`~MINOR SPOILERS FOR E.T.O.L.T. RANDOMLY PLACED THROUGHOUT THIS INTRO AND POEM/BALLAD~`~
I drew this a bit back but was waiting to show it until I was done with the poem/ballad. Comments wanted badly!
Never Coming Back
In Memory of Prince Éonon Rone
By Anna Hall Blakak
To safety you sent me
Away from the fight
They took me on a white steed
In the dead of night
It was to help the kingdom
To keep me from that evil clan
What came was not your doing
I understand
Dreams and hopes both did we share
Each day did we greet in love and trust
Ambition and more were with me each step
I am sorry, my dear ones, they have turned into dust
Once I took delight in simple things
A butterfly was all it took to make me smile
But no more will the palace ring with my laughter
You will not hear it for a long while
Mamma, I never will be tall and handsome
The ladies of court will not look twice when I pass
For their eyes will be blinded
Behind an useable mask
My first love, mother, will not be beautiful
She will not be graceful or kind
I cannot sweep her off her feet
Nor will she sweep me off of mine
For I shall never find her
And she never me
Though a lady she become
A man I cannot be
Papa, I never will be brave and strong
Never will I be a wise and true king
Never will I rule the country
Nor bring it to take wing
I will not be renowned for my skill
In blade or in aim
My story shall ever be brief
And I no hero’s claim
I cannot not be the pride in your eyes
I will not be your joy
Through growing and learning I will not go
I will remain a boy
Sister, you cannot protect me
You cannot show me the easy way
I will not be yours to share secrets with
I will not hold your tears at bay
We will not race in the fields
We will never visit late at night
Though you remain my dearest friend
I have left your sight
Do not grieve, my family
I know it was safety you sought
But even our greatest plains can be ruined
By the turning of the clock
There was some reason for this
His love for you is not gone
Please, just trust in Him, dear ones
He will right this wrong
Look to the sky when you miss me
You will see my smile among the stars
And if you listen, you can hear my laugh
For I have left behind all mortal scars
No more will I be assaulted by pain and fear
Darkness’ touch I will not feel
Music surrounds me on all sides
I am ever dancing to it’s reel
So do not mourn for me
Do not with your dark cloths dull the red maple
For I am free to live and sing
As no man living is able
Let this pain mold you
From this loss learn
For though I love you all greatly
I shall never return

Very nice ballad...I love it. Like the drawing, too.
